• [Why 20:2] Our Lord’s Return To Earth Again

  I am watching for the coming of the glad millennial day, When our blessèd Lord shall come and catch His waiting bride away. Oh! my heart is filled with rapture as I labor, watch, and pray, For our Lord is coming back to earth again. Refrain Oh, our Lord is coming back to earth again. Yes, our Lord is coming back to earth again. Satan will be bound a thousand years; we’ll have no tempter then, After Jesus shall come back to earth again. Jesus’ coming back will be the answer to earth’s sorrowing cry, For the knowledge of the Lord shall fill the earth and sea and sky. God shall take away all sickness and the sufferer’s tears will dry, When our Savior will come back to earth again. Refrain Yes, the ransomed of the Lord shall come to Zion then with joy, And in all His holy mountain nothing hurts or shall destroy. Perfect peace shall reign in every heart, and love without alloy, After Jesus shall come back to earth again.   That great, tremendous day’s approaching, That awful scene is drawing nigh, Which was foretold by ancient prophets, Decreed from all eternity. Prepare my soul, reflect and wonder, That awful scene in drawing near, When you shall see the great transaction, When Christ in judgment shall appear. See nature standing in amazement, To hear the last loud trumpet sound; Arise, ye dead, and come to judgment, Ye nations of this world around: The orbèd lamps all veiled in sackcloth, No more their shining circuit run, The wheel of time now stopped forever, Eternal things are now begun.   Time, by moments, steals away, First the hour, and then the day; Small the daily loss appears, Yet it soon amounts to years: Thus another year is flown, Now it is no more our own (If it brought or promised good) Than the years before the flood. But (may none of us forget) It has left us much in debt; Favors from the Lord received, Sins that have His Spirit grieved; Marked by an unerring hand In His book recorded stand; Who can tell the vast amount, Placed to each of our account?   The world is very evil, the times are waxing late, Be sober and keep vigil, the Judge is at the gate. The Judge Who comes in mercy, the Judge Who comes in might, Who comes to end the evil, who comes to crown the right. Arise, arise, good Christian, let right to wrong succeed; Let penitential sorrow to heavenly gladness lead, To light that has no evening, that knows nor moon nor sun, The light so new and golden, the light that is but one. O home of fadeless splendor, of flowers that bear no thorn, Where they shall dwell as children who here as exiles mourn; ’Midst power that knows no limits, where wisdom has no bound, The beatific vision shall glad the saints around.   The chariot! the chariot! its wheels roll in fire, As the Lord cometh down in the pomp of His ire! Lo! self moving it drives on its pathway of cloud, And the heavens with the burden of Godhead are bowed. The glory! the glory! around Him are poured Mighty hosts of the angels that wait on the Lord; And the glorified saints and the martyrs are there, And there all who the palm wreaths of victory wear.   John saw the Heav’n and earth made new, The first had passed away, The holy city coming down, The new Jerusalem. And God Himself shall dwell with men, And wipe away all tears, There is no sorrow, pain or death, Throughout the coming years. “Behold, I make all things anew,” These faithful words are true, To him who overcometh sin, On earth with God shall rule. • [Why 21:1] One Day There’ll Be New Earth And Heaven

  One day there’ll be new earth and Heaven, for the first will soon pass away. And the Holy City, from Heaven will appear in bridal array. Then with men God will make his dwelling; they will be his people indeed. God himself will be with them always and their God will ever be. God will wipe away every teardrop; there’ll be no more crying or pain. Death and mourning will have no place there; old things will no longer remain. From his throne God utters this promise: “I am making everything new!” Now is written all that’s been spoken, for these words are trusted and true. God the Lord is Alpha, Omega, the Beginning and the End. From the spring of living water, a free drink he’ll give to all men. He who overcomes will inherit all the blessings found in God’s Word. He will be God’s son for all ages; God will be his God and his Lord. See the Holy City, Jerusalem, out of Heav’n from God coming down, Brilliant as a jewel, clear as crystal, with God’s glory shining around. There’s no need for sunshine or moonlight, for God’s glory gives light to all, And the Lamb of God is its temple and a lamp for all in its walls. Nations all will walk by its lamplight; kings will bring their splendor therein. Never will the gates shut and locked be, for no night will ever descend. Nothing that’s impure will e’er enter—no immoral, dishonest men. Only those whose names have been written in the book of life may come in.

  When the toils of life are over, And we lay our armor down, And we bid farewell to earth with all its cares, We shall meet and greet our loved ones, And our Christ we then shall crown, In the new Jerusalem.   Great King of glory, come, And with Thy favor crown This temple as Thy home, This people as Thine own; Beneath this roof, O deign to show How God can dwell with men below. In sweet, exalted strains The King of glory praise; O’er Heav’n and earth He reigns Through everlasting days; He, with a nod, the world controls Sustains or sinks the distant poles.
